Our recent trip to Port Lincoln, inspired outdoor living with Adelaide second hand furniture
Just got back from a refreshing short break with the family and traveled to the seaside attraction known as Port Lincoln. Although we are still in a busy crazy mode at work, it’s sometimes a refreshing (& crazy!!) idea to just get away and relax for a few days!! That’s exactly what we did! Lucky for us we have a large and growing family in Port Lincoln, and this recent trip had us all dressed up for my aunt’s 60th birthday! Her birthday theme was the “Roaring 20s”, inspired by the Great Gatsby with guests wearing sequins, boho/fringed gowns and sparkling/feathery head pieces! The men wore extreme stripes and patterns, from “gangster” suits to funny beachwear onesies with shorts!
One thing I had to share with you all, is this stunning home in Port Lincoln we had the pleasure of renting out for two nights during our stay there!
Pictured above, this charming beachside home of Amanda called the Port Lincoln Seaside Home, booked through the home/room sharing website airbnb (www.airbnb.com). If you don’t know already, a brilliant way to save money when travelling is to actually rent out a home from airbnb (instead of the usual accommodation places advertised over the internet!). Airbnb actually allow anyone who has a spare room or available home to hire out to travellers. We only paid $153 per night, and our rental home could accommodate up to 8 guests! This equals to $38 per person for the 2 nights we stayed!!
Yup, a true bargain and a gem of a home!! We were very lucky to stay in a super clean home, very inviting! with comfortable beds, bedding, and an awesome seaview of the beach! Literally a stroll down to the beach!! Every morning and night we made sure we got good use of the large outdoor entertainment patio, enjoying breakfast outside in the morning and then roasting marsh mellows at night in the outdoor fireplace. The home owners appear world traveled and have a lot of cultural inspired pieces, ie. an African drum in their living room!!
Here are some awesome decor pieces throughout the home, very vintage/country/shabby chic and of course worldly!
A bit about airbnb, it’s almost like a Facebook for homes/rooms to hire, as you can easily communicate with the home owners, see their profile, read reviews of other guests that have stayed and then basically pay 1/3 of a hotel/motel price and still holiday in luxury! It’s actually worked out even cheaper than staying at the local caravan park!
The internal decor even inspired me to rush home to do my own vintage styling, if you are on a budget make sure you get a good bargain by browsing online for any Adelaide second hand furniture.
I absolutely loved my stay at this home (and so did the entire family). We had such a brilliant time in Port Lincoln and could not have asked for anything more. It was definitely a home away from home, but even better!!
We look forward to visiting again!!
